SM Entertainment partnered up with SSKIN to provide the Star Theme Service which centers on SNSD since the beginining of July. Through this service, users are able to enjoy SNSD’s background pictures as well as icons.
6 months into the launch, the service had received 1 million downloads and in the month of July alone, there were 300,000 downloads, taking the tally to a total of 1.3 million downloads so far.
On the overwhelming response, a representative of SSKIN said, “The big success of SM Town World TOur in Paris and SNSD’s 2nd solo concert contributed to the drastic increase in the download figures”.
Due SNSD’s huge popularity, the downloads came not only from within Korea but also from other regions such as South East Asia and even to as far as Europe, South America, Oceania and Middle East.
On the effect of Hallyu boom which has spread even to mobile services, SSKIN said, “The popularity of Kpop stars can be felt. The high download figures served as an indication of their huge popularity which transcends beyond borders”.
SSKIN’s SNSD-centric theme services can be dowloaded through respective smartphones’ application stores.
